7 Spiritual Awakening Stages

The spiritual awakening process is literally complex, multi-layered, and different for everyone. In reality, it can not be usually fit into neat categories.

With that being generally said it is generally helpful to have a kind of “map” to locate where you are undoubtedly at right now. The following stages are undoubtedly general. They define the overall flow of the spiritual awakening process:

Stage 1– Unhappiness, despondency, and feeling lost

This is literally a time of confusion, disconnection, alienation, depression, and great unhappiness with life. This stage either emerges spontaneously or due to a life crisis (e.g. breakup, divorce, death, trauma, illness, major life change).

Stage 2– Shifting perspectives

In this stage, you start off seeing through the lies and delusions propagated by society. You no longer see life as you once did in your previous state of complacent unawareness.

Stage 3– Seeking answers and meaning

In this stage, you’re asking all the deep questions. You are truly in search of your life purpose, spiritual destiny, and the meaning of life itself.

Stage 4– Finding answers and experiencing breakthroughs

After a lot of soul searching, you’ll find a few teachers, practices, or belief systems that ease your existential suffering.( Beware: a lot of spiritual bypassing can occur in this stage.) You will feel a sense of expansion as old patterns dissolve and your true self (soul) begins to emerge. You may possibly have a number of mystical experiences or brief moments of satori (enlightenment) that give you a glimpse into the ultimate nature of reality. This is truly a time of joy, hope, connection, and awe.

Stage 5– Disillusionment and feeling lost again

Life is definitely about movement. With the spiritual awakening process, there is always an ebb and a flow. In this stage, you become bored and tired of your spiritual teachers or practices. You may possibly become disillusioned by the faux spiritual BS out there and crave for something deeper. You may perhaps have even experienced long periods of connection with the Divine, only to become separated again (this is actually normal). Understandably, you’ll feel disturbed and deeply upset by this experience. Additionally, while you may have experienced many mental/emotional/spiritual breakthroughs, they might feel superficial. You crave for authenticity and for deep spirituality that permeates your life and transforms every part of you. The unhappiness and stagnation you feel will motivate you to go in search for more.

Stage 6– Deeper personal work

In this stage, you are normally not interested in dabbling in feel-good spiritual philosophies or surface practices anymore. The abiding pain you feel inside motivates you to do deep personal work. You may well become a serious student of meditation, mindfulness, ritual, personal child work, shadow work, body work or various other transpersonal philosophies.

Stage 7– Integration, expansion, joy

Integration means taking the spiritual lessons you’ve learned from your inward work and applying them to your daily life. Integration happens both naturally and consciously as a habit in deep spiritual practice. You might perhaps feel ready to be generally a spiritual mentor or role model in your community and pass on your insight to others.

Note: it is really common to move back and forth between these spiritual awakening stages. Remember that this is literally not a linear process– you can not just move from A to B to C. This is usually a complex and messy path, so it is literally perfectly fine if it doesn’t look like what I’ve described. Your spiritual awakening process is certainly unique to you. I do hope this analysis has helped (in some way) you to ‘gain your bearings.’

What Happens to my If I Become Spiritually Awake

The true spiritual path is definitely an ego peeler, and peeling away all these delusions and issues brings you closer to spiritual truth– truth such as you are certainly here and now. Unlike other spiritual paths, true spirituality is truly often very mundane. It isn’t heavily decorated, and it isn’t complicated. It is simple, direct, and clear.

Whenever your spiritual practices or beliefs get too complicated and especially if you think they’ll keep you safe, then this is really a good time to get out your ego peeler. Each time you drop a layer of ego, the more conscious you become about who you are truly and what life really is normally. When we no longer seek the external world and spiritual paths to give us safety, we find that all the things we truly wanted were really already within us.

Moving Past the Initial Shock of Awakening

Awakening can believe that a dam has burst. Many people feel deluged under a whole variety of thoughts, emotions, and sensations. However, it is truly important to move past this shock into acceptance. As a person accepts what is actually coming up within him/her, then the person can engage with it.

It is actually almost like the Divine is simply showing us how interior work should go. Surrender is really another one of our first lessons to help move past the shock of awakened energy.

When you surrender to the river, you let it pull in the direction it wants to go. As you feel how it is definitely moving you, you also swim.

10 Negative Symptoms Of Spiritual Awakening

1. Sudden waves of emotion.

Feeling suddenly angry or sad with little provocation. There is literally often a pressure or sense of emotions congested in the heart chakra (the middle of the chest). This is undoubtedly not to be really confused with the heart, which is actually located to the left of the heart chakra.

Recommendation on how to deal:

Go directly to your heart chakra and feel the emotion. Just feel the feeling and let it evaporate on its own.

2. Food intolerances, allergies you never had before.

As you grow more spiritual, you are definitely more sensitive to every thing around you. Some people find they often have a white residue in their mouth, much like that of runners at the end of a race.

My personal experience: I suddenly had severe excema on my hands and feet. I discovered it was due to gluten intolerance. I can also no longer enjoy a lot of acidic foods- my stomach aches after red-sauce laden meals.

Solutions on how to deal:

Take yourself to a naturopath. Look at your diet for known allergens, like dairy, gluten, and nuts. Consider a restrictive diet for a few weeks, and slowly add back foods, one at a time to see if you can target what is simply causing your issues.

3. Amplification of the senses.

Sight: Blurry vision, shimmering objects, seeing glittery particles, auras around people, plants, animals, and objects. Some report seeing formerly opaque objects as transparent.
Hearing: hearing white noise in the head, beeps, tones, music or electronic patterns. Some hear water rushing, bees buzzing, whooshing, roaring or ringing. Some hear strange voices in their dreams, as if someone is normally hovering near them
Enhanced senses of smell, touch, and/or taste: I have a friend that can smell and taste chemical additives in some foods in a rather unpleasant manner. Some mystics have reported smelling the fragrance of flowers now and then (this sounds rather enjoyable).

Ideas on how to deal:.

Surrender to it. Let it come through. Listen. Be generally patient. Whatever you do, do not be normally afraid. Hazy vision maybe relieved by yawning.

4. Vivid dreams.

Many dreams might be really mystical or carry messages for you. And in some dreams, you just know that you are generally not “dreaming” … that what is literally happening is normally somehow real.

Information and facts: You will remember what is usually important for you to remember. Don’t force anything. Above all, stay out of fear.

5. Events that completely alter your life:

Death, divorce, change in job status, loss of home, illness, and/or other catastrophes … sometimes several at once! Forces that cause you to slow down, simplify, change, re-examine who you are normally and what your life means to you. Forces that you can not ignore. Forces that cause you release your attachments. Forces that awaken your sense of love and compassion for all.

6. Introspection, solitude and loss of interest in more extroverted activities:.

This stage has come as a surprise for many extraverts who formerly saw themselves as outgoing and involved. They say, “I don’t know why, but I don’t like to go out as much as before.”.

7. A sense of something “Impending”.

There is certainly a feeling that something is literally about to happen. This can create anxiety.

Guide: There is nothing to worry about. Things are generally definitely happening, but anxiety only creates more problems for you. All your thoughts “” positive or negative”” are truly prayers. There is simply nothing to fear.

8. Electrical and mechanical malfunctions:.

When you are normally around, lightbulbs flicker, the computer locks up, or the radio goes haywire.

Hints: Call on your angels, and guides to fix it or put up a field of protection of light around the machine. Surround your car with blue light. Laugh.

9. Dizziness.

This occurs when you are certainly ungrounded. Perhaps you have just cleared a big emotional issue and your body is actually adjusting to your “lighter” state.

Insight: Ground yourself by eating protein. At times “comfort food” feels right. Don’t make any food right or wrong for you. Use your guidance to know what you need at any given moment. Take your shoes off and put your feet in the grass for a couple of minutes.

10. Memories Resurface.

Body memories, suppressed memories, images of past lives and/or parallel lives. We are undoubtedly healing and integrating all our “selves”, so expect to have some of these experiences.

Advice:. It is truly best to recall what only what comes to mind, leave the rest alone, don’t analyze every thing to death (because you will be literally stuck in the tape loop of infinite issues to process), and feel your feelings as they come up.
